BANKRUPT CALIFORNIA PAYS $578 MILLION FOR NEW SCHOOL. I find it hard to believe that, in the same year California laid off 600+ teachers, our government decided to spend bond money on refurbishing the Ambassador Hotel for Beverly Hills students. When I voted for the bonds, I had visions of South Central school buildings being painted, plumbed, and cleaned. I would never have voted for them had I once imagined that the money would be used to support rich families in Beverly Hills.
