Heart Centered Listening vs Body Centered Listening.

Heart centered listening is a beautiful way to gain understanding of, and empathy for the person one is listening to. That is, indeed, very important. But even more important is to understand how what I am listening to affects me. If I can feel how their message is received by my body, then I have the answer that works for me!
The body level sensations reveal whether it’s a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’ to me…. They help me understand myself and my desires a little more. And that is the road to compassion.
.
If your child (or someone else) screaming “I want to stay!!!!!” makes you want to *SCRAM* to extinguish that screeching, then you might want to take a second to feel the soles of your feet on the ground before you respond. (And remember, responses can be non verbal; it is all about compassionate intention.)
.
It is not ‘do unto others as I would like them to do unto me.’ It is, rather, ‘do unto myself as I would like others to do unto me.’
.
Lots and Lots of Love,
Linda
