Riviera PlaySchool offers a mindful program for the “whole child,” inspired by the best of Attachment Parenting, Reggio Emilia,  Bev Bos, Montessori, Waldorf, and Non-Violent Communication (NVC).

Offering empowering, compassionate teachers, and incredibly engaging,nature-ful, experiential “hands-on” learning. Set in a clean, loving, organic environment, with hiking trail, large lush setting with fruit trees, children’s vegetable garden, petting zoo, and dedicated school house.

One of the preeminent preschools in the South Bay area, Riviera PlaySchool is an independent, “kid-centric” pre-school where people of all sizes can learn, grow, be, and enjoy.

Inspired by Attachment Parenting and Bev Bos, and  combining elements from Reggio-Emilia,  Montessori, Waldorf, and Krishnamurti education, Riviera PlaySchool provides a dynamic preschool  and kindergarten program located on a bridle path,  in the woodsy Hollywood Riviera section of  Redondo Beach.

Our school house, “the studio,” provides a delightful, cozy space for dance, yoga, music making, dress-up, and snuggling with books, while our grounds provide ample space for hiking, farming, building, and messy, muddy, child-directed projects.

 

In a serene, yet lively environment with organic edible garden, numerous activity stations and play structures, children develop their own plans and ideas and are empowered with materials or help in creating his or her own vision or plan. Although there are group activities the children are invited to, participation is not required.

We have a wonderful staff of loving, mindful, highly educated, NVC-trained teachers. Each offers a wealth of experience and nurturing guidance to the children who attend our school.
